The National Defence League (NDL) has once again announced its intention to hold a demo in George Square against working class protests. This time, the target is the Glasgow United Against Fascism (GUAF) rally due to be held at 10:30AM on George Square on Saturday the 20th of June. This rally is backed by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT), the Fire Brigades Union (FBU), and the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) in a clear show of workers’ solidarity in the face of the bosses’ henchmen- the NDL class traitors who recently showed their patriotism by defending the honour of a huge company with a revenue of hundreds of millions, Mears, against an asylum seekers’ protest for housing.
And now the NDL are going to show us all what good servants of the bosses they are by attacking a trade union demonstration! There can be absolutely no doubt now that the NDL and all its allies are an enemy of the working class. They set out to attack the organisations of the working class, just like the fascist gangs of the 1920’s and 1930’s did. We know the NDL for what they are- the combat goons for the billionaires, the terrorist wing of capitalism!
We repeat our urgent call to all working class militants: now is the time for the united front! The unions and the organisations of the left must begin thinking seriously about forming joint self-defence agreements, joint organisations in order to defend ourselves and each other from the bosses’ henchmen. The NDL dress up their scab work with nonsense about how they defend George Square from “terrorists” and “anarchy”, but all they are doing is striking at the working class. The fascist offensive has begun- We cannot let them defeat our demonstrations and marches!
All who can must join the GUAF demonstration tomorrow. All must stand with the RMT, the FBU and the IWW!
